New Release Review - Tremonti - The End Will Show Us How

Tanner Keegan (Bass), Mark Tremonti (Vocals/Guitar), Eric Friedman (Guitar), Garrett Whitlock (Drums)

Mark Tremonti is one hard working and talented fella. I liked his music before I knew who he was. Let me explain....  I always liked the guitar work in the bands Creed and Alter Bridge but could never really 'get into' either of those bands.  Maybe just a little too polished... maybe the vocalists.... maybe not enough of an edge to the music.. not really sure.

In 2012 I came across an article online talking about the debut album from a band called Tremonti. It explained that it was somewhat of a solo project for the guitarist of Creed and Alter Bridge and had more of a 'thrash' sound and that he wrote all the music, played guitar (of course) and also did all the vocals.  "Hmm" I thought to myself, "I might dig that."  And dig it, I did!

Tremonti has amazing melodies.  Not surprisingly since that is a key ingredient for what makes both Creed and Alter Bridge so crazy successful.  What sets Tremonti apart for me is that it leans a little heavier with more soloing.  Kinda like Mark was free to do whatever he wanted with this band.  I also really enjoy his vocals.  He is an amazing singer and knows it, but he doesn't try to impress or do any of the (sometimes) cheesy vocal acrobatics and mouth shapes that can exist in Creed and Alter Bridge songs.

Thirteen years later Tremonti just released their 6th full length album "The End Will Show Us How".  I have heard the entire album and some of the songs several times now and I think it has the potential to be my favorite from the band.  Here are my thoughts on some of the tracks on the new album.  Go check it out if you are a fan of heavy guitars and great melodies!

The Mother, The Earth, And I - Key of Geebz can explain things better than I so here is his reaction.  Love that guy!

One More Time - Starts off heavy with lots of chuggy McChuggs and double bass.  It really doesn't let up from there.  About 2:20 there is a cool little chill-out with amazing guitar work (shocking!).  Speaking of amazing guitar, check out the solo and instrumental section at 3 minutes in.  I tip my imaginary hat to you, Sir Tremonti!  Oh yeah... not to spoil it but you will bang your head at the end of this song.  Don't fight it.

Just Too Much - I reeeaaaaly really like this one.  The bendy notes are super cool.  The verses are so catchy they could have been a chorus.  If this one doesn't end up on Rock 108 I will be disappointed. Maybe it already is, I don't really listen to radio!  What am I talking about?!  I don't know!

I'll Take My Chances - Another heavy one.  DIG IT, YEAH! The music in this song could be in a much heavier band's catalog.  You know, one of those bands where the vocalist sounds like the spawn of satan or sounds like he is horking up a hairball...  I've tried to get into those bands but it's just too damn much.  I try to like those bands because I love the music but just can't get past the shitty vocals.  Thank you Tremonti for non-shitty vocals!

The Bottom - I just listened to this song for the first time while writing this review.  Another hard driving song with a great message.

Live the truth, pave the way
Find your calling today
Stand aside, rest assured
It takes a lifetime to be more

So far these are the tracks I am liking the most.  There is a ton more gold to be found on the rest of the Tremonti discography and many of those albums I am still getting familiar with.  I'm hoping on their next tour they will be at a venue within a couple hours of me... if so I am THERE!  Have a great week, one and all!

✌💛🤘
